The State Director, National Orientation Agency, Akwa Ibom State Directorate, Mr. Mkpoutom Mkpoutom, has called on residents of Uyo and other parts of the state to uphold discipline, patriotism, integrity and respect for constituted authority.

Mr. Mkpoutom made the call during a sensitization exercise to commemorate National Orientation Day 2026, with the theme: “ Upholding Discipline, Patriotism, Integrity, and Respect for Constituted Authority in Line with the National Values Charter.”

He explained that the theme is a reminder that nation-building begins with responsible citizens who respect the law, demonstrate honesty, and put the interest of the country above personal interests.

The State Director encouraged residents to promote peace, unity and responsible behaviour in their communities, stressing that every citizen has a role to play in building a better and more prosperous Nigeria.

He urged parents, teachers, community leaders, youths and other stakeholders to lead by example and teach younger generations the importance of good character, respect and responsible citizenship.

Mr. Mkpoutom further noted that discipline and integrity should not only be discussed during national celebrations but should become part of the daily lives of citizens. He encouraged residents to shun acts capable of undermining peace, unity and development in the state.

He also called on residents to support government efforts aimed at promoting national development by obeying lawful instructions, protecting public property and treating one another with respect and dignity.

The State Director reaffirmed the commitment of NOA to continuously engage citizens through grassroots sensitization and public enlightenment programmes aimed at promoting national values, peaceful coexistence and responsible citizenship.

He therefore urged the people of Akwa Ibom to reflect on the message of National Orientation Day and make positive contributions towards building a peaceful, united and prosperous Nigeria.
