…… Gives Keke, Mini Bus Operators Sept 30 Deadline for Digital Registration

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has directed all tricycle and mini bus operators in the state to complete digital registration on or before September 30, 2026.

Speaking to newsmen during an unscheduled inspection of the CNG Bus Terminal at Ikot Akpe, Uyo on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the governor said the extension was granted following appeals from the operators.

“Let me please request all our Tricycle (Keke) and Mini Bus operators to get registered,” Gov Eno said. “They requested for extension of time and I have extended the time to 30th September 2026.”

The governor warned that enforcement will begin immediately after the deadline.

“From 1st of October 2026, any Keke or Mini bus that does not conform with the Digital registration would be barred from plying our roads,” he stated.

According to him, the move is part of security measures ahead of the yuletide season when crime rates typically rise.

“We are getting into the yuletide season when crime rate increases, we want to know who are the people carrying passengers, have them in our Data Base to enable us track them in the event of any criminality,” the governor added.

The digital registration is expected to capture details of all commercial keke and mini bus operators for identification and tracking purposes by security agencies.
