The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikono Local Government Area Chapter, has been drawn to the provocative, illegal, and unacceptable act of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), using the image and personality of our highly respected leader and our House of Representatives Candidate for Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo ( Macaire) for their campaign activities in Ikono.
It is shocking and disgraceful that the opposition ADC has gone ahead to parade our candidate in their campaign materials including T-shirts, fez caps, posters, and other items in a desperate bid to gain relevance and mislead the public.
We in the APC hereby state as follows:
- Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo remains a full, loyal, and committed member of the APC. He has not defected to the ADC or any other party. He is and remains our sole candidate for Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
- The act of the ADC is impersonation and a criminal misrepresentation. It is an act of political fraud and deceit aimed at confusing our supporters and the general electorate in Ikono/Ini.
- It is against our party constitution and the Electoral Act. No party has the right to use another party’s candidate for its campaign. This is a gross violation of electoral laws and political ethics.
Henceforth, the leadership of the APC in Ikono LGA, in consultation with the Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency leadership, has resolved as follows:
We issue a STERN AND FINAL WARNING to the ADC and its sponsors to immediately withdraw all campaign materials bearing the image and name of Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo (Macaire) and desist from this impersonating act.
Failure to comply within 48 hours will leave us with no other option than to take full legal action against the ADC and its leadership in Ikono LGA for impersonation, defamation, and unlawful use of our candidate’s image.
The APC in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency is united, focused, and ready for victory. No amount of propaganda or political rascality by the opposition will derail our movement.
